Be Informed: Develop understanding of the visual elements and a range of media. Provides opportunities to deepen understanding of culture in Scotland.
Be Inspired by tartan designs, Scottish culture and the works of artists and designers to enchance their enjoyment and deepen their knowledge and understanding. Artists included in this scheme include: Bill Gibb, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, Versace, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, William Morris, Frank Lloyd Wright, Zaha Hadid, Antoni Gaudi, Jim Dine.
Be Practical: Develop cutting skills. Make your own Tartan design by weaving paper. Explore the visual elements using a range of media through practical activities, discovering their effects and suitability for tasks. Create, express and communicate ideas using the visual elements. Pupil selected design choice using a variety of materials - inspired by a range of stimuli pupils can choose building design, fashion design or interior design.
Be connected: Working alongside siblings at home to experience working with others whilst in lockdown. Learning enhanced with access to fashion drawings from Aberdeen Art Gallery's Bill Gibb exhibition. Learning for sustainability - global goals of health and wellbeing and responsible consumption and production by encouraging up cycling of materials and sustainable design. Learn about history of tartan designs. Learn about sustainable design and health and wellbeing. Showcase of pupils work allowing them to appreciate each others work and to enhance enjoyment and understanding. Also allows them to present their work with grandparents, family and a wider audience. Literacy skills developed in the language of art, craft and design.
